FAQs Regarding Texas Hunting

What do we need to bring?

  • Texas Hunting License
  • Federal Migratory Stamp
  • State Duck Stamp
  • Hunter Education Card (if required, for details see the TPWD page)
  • Shotgun and Nontoxic Shells (if using 'normal' steel shot, we recommend #2 for ducks; BB's for geese)
  • Hunting Clothes (be prepared for weather from 20 to 50 degrees)
  • Rain Gear
  • Chest Waders
  • Camera
  • Ice Chest for Meat

Where do we meet and how do we get there? (Directions to Coastal Wings - 1001 Adams Rd. Bay City, TX 77414)

From Houston:

Take Hwy. 59 south to Hwy. 60 in Wharton. Follow Hwy. 60 south to Bay City. Once in Bay City, follow 60 south. Adams road will be on the right across from Bay City plumbing supply. Follow Adams to the end and lodge is on the left.

From Austin:

Take 183 south until you get to Hwy. 71. Take Hwy. 71 east until you get to Hwy. 35. Take Hwy. 35 east until you get to Hwy. 60 in Bay City. Take Hwy. 60 north until you get to the Bay City Plumbing Supply, located on your right.  Adams Road is directly across follow to the end, lodge is on the left.

From San Antonio:

Take I-10 east until you get to Hwy. 71 in Columbus. Take Hwy. 71 east and follow the same directions as Austin.

From Dallas:

Take I-45 south to Houston. On the north side of Houston, take I-610 west until you get to Hwy. 59. Take Hwy. 59 south and follow the same directions as Houston.

How many acres do you have to hunt?

We have access to over 35,000 acres of cropland, wetlands and fields.

What type of geese and ducks will we see?

The Gulf Coast rice prairies of Texas are known for wintering the majority of all Central Flyway waterfowl including four goose species: Snows, Ross, Specklebelly and Canadas. We also offer some spectacular wingshooting for numerous species of ducks including Pintails, Widgeon, Teal, Gadwall, and Redheads.

Can I bring my own dog?

We provide retrievers for our hunts, but you are more than welcome to bring along your own dog.

Do you require a deposit?

We require a 50% non-refundable deposit to secure a date.
